Boos for Bohs after Pádraig Amond earns winner for Waterford

Boos echoed around Dalymount Park at full time as Pádraig Amond's clinical first half strike proved enough for Waterford to edge past Bohemians and leapfrog them in the table.

Amond was the difference between the two sides, showing Bohemians what they are missing without Jonathan Afolabi as the hosts were punished for their profligacy in front of goal.

Waterford had one chance and took it while Boehmians lacked a presence in the final third despite dominating throughout on what was a frustrating first home game in charge for Alan Reynolds.

Plenty of pleasantries were exchanged before kick off with the returning Keith Long arguably receiving a warmer reception from the Jodi Stand crowd than current Bohs boss Reynolds who has two defeats from three games so far.

Amond’s excellent finish across the goal from a narrow angle just after the half hour mark sparked a scrappy first half into life.

A classy one-two between Conor Parsons and Robbie McCourt on the edge of the box saw the latter slip Amond through and he fired across Chorazka into the corner.

That was Waterford’s only effort of the first half and the Bohs response was strong, forcing a flurry of Dayle Rooney corners while the former Drogheda winger had the hosts best chance of the half.

He charged down Rowen McDonald’s clearance and pounced on the loose ball only to hammer his shot straight at Sam Sargeant.

Bohs got their joy down the left hand side from Dylan Connolly and Paddy Kirk. Kirk delivered a looping cross to the back post which Rooney - who is capable of the spectacular - took down brilliantly, turned and curled into the arms of the diving Sargeant.

The hosts started the second half as they finished the first and should have been level nine minutes after the break
