Bonfires and fireworks set to light up the nights ahead in Trafford

Bonfire events are taking place across Trafford to celebrate the famous gunpowder plot of 1605, when Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament. There are no council-sponsored events, but the sparklers and the fireworks kick off at Bowdon Cricket, Hockey and Squash Club on South Downs Road on Friday November 1.

It includes a ‘big bonfire’, three firework displays, stalls selling novelties, children’s fun fair rides, a barbecue including burgers and other hot dishes, bars with alcoholic and soft drinks and sweet treats and toffee apples. Gates open at 6pm. Tickets will be available on the night and will cost £12 for adults, £5 for children and £30 for a family ticket.

Meanwhile, on Saturday November 2, the fireworks fun transfers to Urmston Sports Club where there is a bonfire and fireworks display. Gates open at 5pm and fireworks go up at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7 for adults, it’s £5 for under under 16s and under-fives get in free.

Elsewhere there is Stretford Cricket Club’s bonfire and fireworks display. It includes a bonfire, two firework displays, food, a bar and a tuck shop. The gates at Lesley Road open at 5pm and the fireworks begin at 7pm and 8pm. Over-16s get in for £6, it’s £3 for children, of £15 for a family ticket (two adults two children).

And there is a bonfire night event at Trafford MV Cricket Club at Finny Bank Road in Sale on Tuesday November 5 where food and drink will be on sale and for which tickets need to be bought in advance. Tickets cost £10 for adults, £5 for children, or it’s £25 for a family ticket.
