Bolton Wanderers duo Kyle Dempsey and Kieran Sadlier's timeframe for starting games assessed

Ian Evatt believes new signing Kyle Dempsey is ready to start for Bolton Wanderers and that fellow January signing Kieran Sadlier is not far behind doing so either.

Attackers Sadlier and Dempsey were the final two acquisitions made by Wanderers in the January transfer window, with the former arriving from Rotherham United and the latter a deadline day addition from Gillingham.

Sadlier has made two appearances off the bench so far since joining Bolton, while Dempsey made his debut in the second half of the 1-1 draw against Morecambe over the weekend.

Dempsey is ready to start for Bolton, according to Evatt, and Sadlier is pushing to make his first start too, as the Wanderers boss believes the new signing are learning and buying into the philosophy he has imposed at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Evatt said: “He (Dempsey) is ready to start but it is new to him – it is new to them all the way we play.

“People like Aaron (Morley) have been thrown in at the deep end and he still needs to learn exactly what we require from our central midfield players.

“I must say, the way the new players have bought into what we are doing is incredible.

“Kieran Sadlier in particular is really training well and pushing for a start and it won’t be long in coming. That is what you have to do, you have to apply yourself day in, day out, and then you will get the maximum out of it.”

Dempsey came on in the second half against the Shrimps in poor conditions at the Mazuma Stadium and not long before Wanderers went down to 10 men following the red card shown to captain Ricardo Almeida Santos.
