Bok, Stormers centre calls it a day

Former Springbok centre Juan de Jongh has retired from professional rugby.

The Stormers announced on Monday that De Jongh opted to call it a day, having had two spells at the Cape franchise.

The 35-year-old played for Western Province and the Stormers between 2009 and 2017, before moving to Wasps in England for four years.

He returned to the Stormers in 2021 but struggled for game time in the URC. In recent times, he featured more regularly for Western Province in the Currie Cup.

De Jongh made his Test debut in 2010 against Wales and went on to play 19 Tests for the Springboks, with his last international coming in 2016 against New Zealand at Kings Park.

He also had stints in sevens with the Blitzboks and was part of the team that won bronze at the 2026 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
