Bok skipper satisfied, but knows more will be needed against England

Springbok captain Siya Kolisi said they need to get their rugby books in better working order for next week's Test against England after their rip-roaring success against Italy on Saturday. 

Kolisi was more than impressed with how they roared past Italy 63-21 at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in Genoa, but felt it was not good enough for them to show up for just one game.

The Boks have been rightly accused of being profligate in their opposition's 22m area and for the better part of the first half, they were kept honest by the hosts.

They tore them apart in the second half in what was a dismissive performance, winning the second stanza 45-8.

Kolisi said he was chuffed that they were ruthless in the red zones, but also admitted they have to be even better against an England side that fought back from 22-6 down to draw 25-25 against New Zealand.

"It's something we've struggled with throughout the year, but the mindset of the guys when we got into the zones, we had the mindset of making sure because we don't get second options anymore," Kolisi said.

"We have to make sure that we make them work and I thought the guys bought into that very well and it was really good for the backs.

"We do have to remain consistent in what we do because doing it for one week isn't good enough. We have to do it again next week."

Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber was also happy with how his charges initially quelled Italy's attacking threats before putting them away in the second half.

"I thought Italy was phenomenal in the first half," Nienaber said.
