Bok scrumhalf signs contract extension at Stormers

Springbok scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies has signed a two-year contract extension with the Stormers which will see him ply his trade in the Cape until at least 2024.

The 2019 World Cup winner has been on WP Rugby's books since his junior days, having represented the union at under-16 level while at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch.

He told the Stormers' official website that remaining in the Cape was an easy decision.

"I am very excited about the direction that this team is going and can see us building something special together here.

"This is my home and this has always been my team, so I am looking forward to contributing in any way I can going forward."

Stormers coach John Dobson welcomed Jantjies' decision to stay put.

"Herschel has had to work very hard to get where he is today. I have seen him evolve into a world-class player through incredible commitment and passion for this union.

"He is exactly the type of player that we want in our team and we are very excited to see what he can achieve in a Stormers jersey in the years to come."

Jantjies, 25, has played 19 Tests for the Springboks since making his debut in 2019.
