Board game café featuring more than 150 games to open in Stockport this weekend

A board game café featuring a milkshake bar and freshly-made pies will be opening in Stockport this weekend.

Outside The Box, which will be situated on Woodford Road in Bramhall, will have more than 150 different games for people to play - with a variety of family-friendly, strategic and party-style games all on offer.

Alongside a range of custom-made tables featuring pull-out shelves to enjoy the full layout of the games, the café will also serve up gourmet pies from Macclesfield-based Lord of the Pies, alongside barista-made coffee, milkshakes, and cakes.

Opening on Saturday (July 20), the cafe’s staff will be on hand to help people learn how to play the various different games, which will include popular favourites and cult classics, including the likes of Catan Junior, Dos Rios, and Dune Imperium.

Set up by board game enthusiasts Rachel Eade and Helen Entwistle, the cafe aims to be a place where people can relax, socialise and play games in an intimate setting. “We’ve visited numerous board game cafes up and down the country and made a note of the best bits of those venues,” Rachel explained.

“We’ve then added some unique touches to our own space in the North West. We want every visit to Outside The Box to be a special experience. Playing board games has so many benefits including socialising, escapism, reducing stress and cutting back on screen time. So, guests are encouraged to stay for as long as they like to relax, have fun, play board games and become part of our community.”

Over the coming months, Outside The Box will also host regular events as well as featuring a rotation of new and classic games.
