BMW To Each Player, 1 Crore Cash: Hyderabad Team Promised Big Reward If They Win Ranji Trophy

A 5-wicket win against Meghalaya saw the Hyderabad state cricket team storm back into the Ranji Trophy Elite Group on Tuesday. Tilak Varma and veteran batter Gahlaut Rahul Singh scored a half-century each in the second innings, playing a crucial role in their team's triumph. Hyderabad's victory prompted the announcement of big rewards from the state's cricket association. The HCA promised a reward of Rs 10 Lakh for the Plate Group champions and Rs 50,000 for the standout performers, but that isn't all.

The association chief Jagan Mohan Rao Arsihnapally has also promised a BMW car to each player if they go on to win the Ranji Trophy title in the next three years. A cumulative prize money of Rs 1 crore has also been promised to the entire team.

"The announcement was aimed at motivating the players and other stakeholders. Achieving the target next year is realistically not possible so I gave them three seasons," Rao said about the announcement to The New Indian Express.

"We had our first annual general meeting on Sunday wherein we discussed the way forward. At the moment there is Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence at the Gymkhana Grounds. I have proposed four satellite academies in four different parts of the city to make sure budding cricketers are scouted and given requisite facilities near their localities. As many as 10 districts come under HCA so we have planned a mini stadium at each district headquarters to identify and groom talents. The iconic Moin-ud-Dowlah tournament will also be revamped," he further said.
