BMW driver attempted to drive on wrong side of M6 before being caught by cops in terrifying chase
A BMW driver who led police on a terrifying chase along one of the busiest motorways mid rush hour has been arrested on suspicion of drug and drink driving, failing to stop for officers, and using a cloned number plate.
The 34-year-old man from Manchester, was also wanted by a neighbouring force for perverting the course of justice. He remains in custody.
At around 3.30pm on yesterday (November 8), the driver of a black BMW convertible failed to stop in Warrington before leading police onto the M56 and then the M6. He initially attempted to drive the wrong way down the carriageway, Cheshire Police said.

The driver was eventually arrested after being forcibly brought to a stop in the middle of the carriageway near to junction 20 of the M6 northbound.
Dramatic video footage revealed the moment police surrounded the BMW following the chase.
The motorway was closed northbound beside J20 just before rush hour, with a slip road also closed amid the police incident. There were huge delays for a number of hours before the suspect, aged 33, was taken into custody following the dramatic scenes.
Dramatic footage, shared to social media site TikTok by user @chris_thefella, appears to show the moment the police swarmed the motorway and surrounded the convertible BMW.
A number of officers can then be seen running over to the car as other traffic was brought to a stop.
