Bluedot cancels 2024 festival to recover from "extreme" 2023 weather
The organisers of the award-winning Bluedot festival in Cheshire have announced that the 2024 event will not go ahead after extreme weather called off this year's performances.
The festival, which fuses music, science, arts and culture over four days, has confirmed it will take a fallow year in 2024, as it recovers from the impact of the 'unprecedented amount' of rain that fell at this year's event. In July, organisers made the 'heartbreaking decision' to suddenly cancel Sunday day tickets due to torrential downpours making the Jodrell Bank 'impassable'.
Via Twitter this morning, the team behind the festival said underpinning their mission was a "sincere love and respect for the earth and environment", but the "earth beneath Bluedot took a lot of strain" after experiencing the highest level of rainfall on the festival weekend since records began.

In a full statement, organisers said: "When we set out on the journey that is Bluedot, our mission was to create a unique experience - a combination of discovery, exploration and grand cosmic ideas, soundtracked by the finest musicians from across the planet. An opportunity once a year to explore new and unique collaborations between science, music and the arts, to be amongst like-minded adventurers, and to rediscover and celebrate our shared humanity.
“Underpinning Bluedot's mission is a sincere love and respect for the earth and environment we are lucky to be part of. However, the earth beneath Bluedot took a lot of strain.
