Blow for Munster as RG Snyman to undergo surgery

Munster are set to be without the services of RG Snyman after the province confirmed the lock is to undergo surgery in South Africa this week.

The 28-year-old second row suffered an injury during the Springboks' Rugby World Cup final victory over New Zealand.

"RG Snyman suffered a chest/shoulder injury during the World Cup final and will undergo surgery in South Africa this week," said Munster.

Snyman joined Munster in 2020 and has since suffered two ACL injuries, which kept him sidelined for long periods.

The BKT URC champions gave no timeframe for his recovery.

Calvin Nash was withdrawn with a knee injury in Saturday night's URC win over the Dragons and will be assessed by the medical team.

His availability for Friday's match-up with Ulster in Belfast will be determined as the week progresses.

Simon Zebo (foot) and Josh Wycherley (neck) both return to full training this week and are available for selection.

Patrick Campbell (ankle), Roman Salanoa (knee), Mike Haley (hip), Cian Hurley (ankle/achilles), Niall Scannell (groin), Andrew Conway (knee) are continuing to rehab.

Meanwhile, Ireland internationals Tadhg Beirne, Dave Kilcoyne, Jeremy Loughman, Conor Murray and Peter O'Mahony have rejoined the squad following their World Cup campaign.

Half-backs Craig Casey and Jack Crowley featured in the weekend's win over the Welsh region.
