Blow for Kerry as captain Siofra O'Shea suffers second cruciate injury
Kerry have suffered a huge blow following the news that team captain Siofra O'Shea has suffered a second cruciate injury.
The Southern Gaels forward had been enjoying a fantastic season, winning the Croke Park/LGFA Player of the Month for February, and had starred in their recent All-Ireland quarter-final win over holders Meath.
O’Shea was expected to carry the fight to Mayo in Saturday’s semi-final as the Kingdom attempt to take a step forward in their quest to end their 30-year wait for the Brendan Martin Cup, but they most plan without her services.
It’s a massive blow for the 21-year-old who had suffered a cruciate injury on her other knee during a league match against Wexford in 2021.
She recovered from that injury to play a part in Kerry’s run to the 2022 decider, scoring two points in the loss to the Royals at Croke Park.
