Blow for Armagh as Rian O'Neill to miss Ulster opener

Armagh have suffered a huge blow with the news that Rian O'Neill is set to miss the conclusion to their league campaign and the start of their Ulster Championship through injury.

RTÉ Sport understands that the Crossmaglen ace suffered a quad injury in training earlier this week ruling him out of their final league game against Tyrone on Sunday and, also, their provincial opener against Antrim.

Should Kieran McGeeney's side get past the Saffron County on 9 April, O'Neill will still remain a major doubt for a quarter-final clash with Cavan a fortnight later.

McGeeney has had to deal with an extensive injury list this season, with O'Neill's older brother Oisin (Achilles) amongst those sidelined.

Armagh have received a boost in the midfield department as Ben Crealey is nearing a return, although Sunday's clash with the Red Hands may come too soon.

Armagh travel to Omagh needing a point to secure their Division 1 status, although they can be saved if Monaghan fail to beat Mayo in Castlebar.
