Blow for Annan Athletic as top scorer ruled out with dislocated collarbone

Annan Athletic have been dealt an injury blow after top scorer Tommy Goss dislocated his collarbone.

The striker, who also tops the League Two scoring charts, could miss as many as four weeks after he fell in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Stranraer.

Manager Peter Murphy said: “He fell awkwardly onto his elbow which has messed up his collarbone. We hoped he would be okay but it’s turned out he’s dislocated it.

“He’ll be out two weeks doing nothing and then we’ll see how he is after those two weeks.

“Having said that, that was the initial assessment and after speaking to him he’s a lot better than he was on Sunday.

“I took Tommy off against Albion Rovers and Josh Galloway and Tam Muir scored so we’ve got options but losing your top goalscorer for a couple of weeks gives somebody else the opportunity to get minutes, get games and score as much as they can in a short period of time to get in the manager’s thoughts for next season.”

It’s set to be another tense match for Murphy’s side in the play-off picture of League Two.

Fourth placed Annan travel to Methil to take on East Fife who sit two points above them with six games remaining in the regular campaign.

Peter said: “The game could be built up to be a huge game this weekend but when you’ve seen the way the league is East Fife could get a draw or beat us at the weekend and then lose the next week against anybody in our division. It’s that crazy this year.

“We just need to pick up as many points as we can in the last six games. Three wins should be enough but it’s going to be very tight.”

The Galabankies are coming into the match off the back of a stalemate with Dumfries and Galloway rivals Stranraer at Galabank on Saturday.
