Blitzboks make horror start to LA Sevens campaign
The Blitzboks started their LA Sevens campaign on a low note with a disappointing loss to hosts USA on Saturday.
The USA ran in three tries in a comprehensive 21-7 victory.
The Blitzboks appeared on the back foot throughout and never found their footing after going 14-0 down early on.
A yellow card to Shaun Williams also didn't help matters, and when the USA went 21-0 ahead early in the second stanza, the writing was on the wall for South Africa.
SA hit back with a try from Sako Makata but it was too little too late.
In their second match, the Blitzboks face Canada (21:26 SA time) on Saturday and New Zealand (00:59 SA time on Sunday morning).
A lot is at stake in California as the Blitzboks lead Australia by two points and Argentina by six atop the World Series standings.
