Blistering Rennes form sees Tottenham, Everton and Wolves ‘sound out’ manager

Tottenham, Everton and Wolves are among six clubs keeping tabs on manager Bruno Genesio amid his team’s exciting form, according to a report.

The 55-year-old has been in charge of Rennes for just over a year. Last season, they finished sixth in Ligue 1 – qualifying them for the inaugural Europa Conference League.

Rennes are enjoying a sublime campaign in 2021-22. They have won 16 out of 29 league matches so far, putting them third.

Genesio’s men are some way off leaders Paris Saint-Germain, although they could snatch second place from Marseille.

Rennes were also hoping to win the Conference League, but they were beaten in the round of 16 by favourites Leicester City.

Domestically, Rennes have been in brilliant form over the past few weeks. They have won their last five Ligue 1 matches on the bounce.

The most recent outing ended in a 6-1 thrashing of Metz at home, during which forward Sehour Guirassy got a hat-trick.

Clubs are beginning to sit up and take notice. But it is not just the Rennes players who are attracting attention.

According to French outlet RMC Sport, Genesio has been ‘sounded out’ by plenty of teams recently.

Among them are English sides Tottenham, Everton and Wolves. Elsewhere, interest stems from Valencia, Real Sociedad and Saudi Arabian-based Al-Hilal.

The six clubs have all made initial enquiries about Genesio’s availability. It will be interesting to see if any of these approaches result in formal bids.

Tottenham, of course, already have Antonio Conte in the dugout. He is hoping to take them back into the Champions League.

However, the Italian has looked subdued in some post-match interviews, leading to rumours of an early exit.
