Blackpool closing in on signing of Man City player amid Josh Bowler transfer saga

Blackpool are set to add Manchester City youngster Morgan Rogers for the rest of the season – but only if Josh Bowler secures a move away from Bloomfield Road before the transfer deadline.

That is according to LancsLive’s transfer blog (January 31, 19:39) who believe that the Premier League champions want to recall the 19-year-old after appearing 15 times for the Cherries this season in the Championship – starting just once.

Despite a permanent option in the loan deal with the south coast club being in the deal, City want to relocate the teenager but he will only arrive at the Tangerines if Bowler departs.

Bowler, a summer signing for Blackpool, is in the middle of a transfer tug of war with both Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth vying for his signature in the last hours of the window, according to Alan Nixon, via LancsLive’s blog (January 31, 18:46).

Forest were said to be getting closer to Blackpool’s valuation for Bowler earlier in the day and should the offer be acceptable then Rogers will arrive as his replacement for the rest of the season.

The Verdict

Rogers is an exciting player and several Championship clubs were believed to be interested in his signature, but Blackpool is a player where young players can go and flourish.

Neil Critchley believes in youth and has good experience in coaching youngsters from his time at Liverpool and Rogers could be the latest to develop under his care.

But that’s only going to happen if Bowler gets a move to a fellow Championship club and it looks more likely to be Forest at this stage than anyone else.
