'Bitter and resentful' ticket hikes slammed as Man United, Man City and Liverpool unite

The price increases from Premier League clubs has been described as 'death by a thousand cuts' with Manchester City Fans Supporting Foodbanks' Nick Clarke expressing his hope for change within English football.

Fans from both Liverpool and Manchester joined forces on Sunday to protest against ticket price increases. Manchester United and Everton were together in arms prior to United's 4-0 win in a demonstration against hikes amid recent changes from the Old Trafford hierarchy which will see new tickets for children and older fans rise to £66.

At Anfield, fans displayed a 'Stop Exploiting Loyalty' and 'Unity is Strength' banners outside of the Kop against the soaring yearly costs. Clarke said: "Tribalism ultimately holds back supporters across the country, who all experience the same issues to getting things done from protecting the game, as we know and knew it.

"Spirit of Shankly reached out to us, we looked at the fixture list and United were playing Everton at home on the same day, the four biggest clubs in the north west, all together. We reached out to United fans, for me as a City fan, all the hatred and bitterness that exists between our two clubs, to reach out to United was a tough thing to do but the 1958 group were absolutely fantastic.

"They understand we can hate each other in the stand to an extent but we will not get anything done outside of it. I want to be there in the same stands in 20 years slagging them off, I want my sons, daughters, nieces and nephews to also be there - it doesn't seem possible with the way football is going now.
