"Bit of a glider" - Sky Sports reporter raves over Tottenham ace who looks like "he's floating"

Rodrigo Bentancur has made a very positive first impression at Tottenham, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The midfielder joined Spurs from Juventus on deadline day in January, and has already established himself as a key player in Antonio Conte’s side.

Conte has not been afraid to throw him straight into the action as Bentancur has featured in seven Premier League games since he arrived.

After making a 30-minute cameo appearance from the bench against Southampton, Bentancur has gone on to start six of the team’s last seven top-flight matches, only missing one fixture due to an ankle problem.

During this period, he has helped Spurs pick up eye-catching wins against Manchester City and Everton, and he arguably produced his best performance to date at Brighton on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old completed more passes (80), and made more interceptions (3) than any of his teammates, as per WhoScored, while he also delivered the defence-splitting pass for Harry Kane’s goal as Tottenham wrapped up a 2-0 victory.

He was subsequently voted Man of the Match by the club’s fanbase.

Bridge appreciates Bentancur’s calmness on the ball, and believes the £22.5m-rated holding midfielder has settled very quickly at Spurs.

Speaking about the 47-cap international, Bridge told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s a bit of a glider. He doesn’t look like he’s doing it, you kind of feel like he’s floating. He’s got a nice way about him, he carries the ball nice, he carries it well.”

He may have only been in north London for less than seven weeks but Bentancur has certainly made a case for being indispensable in the middle of the park.
