Birmingham City's transfer stance emerges as Blues fans make Ed Sheeran appeal

Welcome to BirminghamLive's coverage of all things Birmingham City on

Birmingham City have no intention of cashing in any of their crown jewels when the transfer window opens this summer, BirminghamLive understands. Whilst Blues have had a disappointing season in terms of their league position, the campaign has seen the emergence of several home-grown youngsters who have made the step up to Championship football.

Seventeen-year-old midfielder Jordan James has led the way, while Nico Gordon has come to prominence amid the club’s swingeing injury crisis which has particularly affected their defence. Several others have made first team debuts too, including George Hall, Marcel Oakley, Jobe Bellingham and Tate Campbell.

Inevitably speculation has followed their emergence with Hall, who has played for England Under 18s this season, claimed to be interesting the likes of Leeds United and Southampton.

James, who was called into the England Under 20s in the last international break, has made 18 appearances, scored a first senior goal and become a fixture in Lee Bowyer’ s match-day squad. He has also been linked with Everton and Wolves among others.

Now there are claims on social media that Gordon is the latest to attract attention, with suggestions that Chelsea have scouted his last three matches and that Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal are all tracking the 19-year-old.

Gordon is though contracted to Blues until 2023 and the club also have a year option on the centre back. James signed a new deal in November - since when it has been said Blues are in talks about improving his terms. As things stand he is under contract until June 2024. Meanwhile, Hall signed a first pro deal at the end of 2021.
