Birmingham City eye Man United boost as Lee Bowyer opens up on Taylor Richards medical

Tahith Chong has a chance of being involved for Birmingham City against Huddersfield Town this weekend.

The 22-year-old has not played since October after sustaining a thigh injury in training, for which he underwent surgery.

But after nearly four months on the sidelines it seems the Manchester United youngster has a chance of making Blues' bench after he featured in Monday night’s Under-23s win at Southampton.

If he doesn’t feature in Lee Bowyer’s match-day squad, he should be available for the trip to Bristol City on Saturday week.

Head coach Lee Bowyer will make a final decision after Friday’s training.

“It didn’t look good in the beginning, he went back to Man U, got some good treatment there and he is ahead of schedule.

“He has been back with us a couple of weeks now, played in the 23s, 45 minutes on Monday night, it was good to see him out there.

“A little bit rusty which you would expect, he has been out a long time, if we can get him up and running, we have got to be careful with him, nothing stupid too early, if we can get him back to nearly where he was with six-seven games to go then it will be great.

“We are just going to have to see how he is day by day, training today he looked sharper than he did last week training, he looked sharper than he did on Monday."
