Birmingham City could be involved in six transfer deals before the deadline

Birmingham City have had a productive transfer window – with five new signings in to bolster Lee Bowyer’s squad.

Four have arrived on loan, Taylor Richards, Teden Mengi, Lyle Taylor and Onel Hernandez, while Juninho Bacuna is the one permanent signing.

Going through the door have been Caolan Boyd-Munce, Riley McGree and Chuks Aneke, while Harlee Dean has left on loan to Sheffield Wednesday and Dion Sanderson and Matija Sarkic’s loans have ended.

However, as the transfer deadline ticks ever closer, technical director Craig Gardner won’t be turning off his phone just yet and we could see a few more departures – and perhaps even another incoming.

Exactly how many remains to be seen but one key issue remains the future of , who is a prime candidate to leave the club.

The left-back has just a few months left on his contract and is attracting interest meaning Blues could recoup some value from the 27-year-old.

But if a tempting offer comes in that would need them to , with the Dane the only real recognised left-back in Bowyer’s squad – leaving Gardner with the prospect of a double deal just before the window closes.

Bowyer said: “Kristian is a good player so there’s going to be interest. Will he go? I don’t know.

“If the deal is right for the football club then it’s something we would have to consider because it looks like we’re going to lose him in the summer anyway.

“But if it isn’t right for the football club and it weakens us too much, then we won’t be letting him go.”
