Birmingham City and George Hall: Leeds United 'leading the race' for Blues teen in demand

Birmingham City teenager George Hall is the subject of transfer interest from clubs in the Premier League and Europe after impressing at youth level for club and country.

Leeds United are reportedly "leading the race" for the 17-year-old midfielder, who has been scouted by a multitude of clubs since making his debut for the senior team in January. That's according to The Sun on Sunday, via LeedsLive.

Hall played 84 minutes for Blues during the 2-1 home defeat to QPR in the Championship. The teenager, who has been at the club since he was eight-years-old, has also been on the bench on three other occasions and has returned to the under-23s’ set-up in recent weeks.

He has started seven games and come off the bench three times for Steve Spooner’s side, scoring three goals, and has also made 11 appearances for the Under 18s.

Premier League and European scouts were present to see the 17-year-old represent England U18s during last week's win over Sweden and draw with Denmark in Marbella. Hall impressed for the Young Lions, sparking renewed speculation about the teenager's future.

Here's the latest on Hall...

The supposed frontrunners are Leeds United, who have held an interest in Hall since last year. The Whites appear to rate him quite highly and have established a pipeline to the first team for young players in recent years.

Southampton are also "maintaining a watching brief on his progression", according to MailOnline. Newcastle United and Brighton were previously mentioned as potential suitors, too.

The most recent report also claims that clubs in the Bundesliga are monitoring him, which sets up the possibility of him following in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham.
