Bill Belichick Will Appear On The Manningcast In Continued Quest To Rehab His Grouchy Image

The well-received Monday Night Football Manningcasts will feature a new face this year, and it doesn't belong to a Manning. Instead, it belongs to former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Peyton Manning announced the news during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday afternoon and even got into how they plan to use Belichick's wealth of knowledge.

"That’s the idea, that Bill is going to be a permanent guest on every ‘ManningCast’ show early in the game, probably the first quarter to kind of take people behind the ropes as to what this defense has to do or what the quarterback’s challenges are," Manning explained.

I think people are going to eat this up, and frankly, I've been kind of stunned at how not terrible Belichick is on TV. When he did NFL Draft coverage with McAfee, I expected to see grumpy, Ol' Man Belichick up there, but considering he is still pretty green as a broadcaster I think he was pretty solid.

And showing that less grumpy side is going to go along way for Belichick.

As OutKick's Armando Salguero wrote recently, it would seem that Belichick is doing his best to show the public — as well as any NFL teams who might have coaching vacancies in the near future — a different side of himself.

It's worth a shot. I mean, Belichick's reputation for grouchiness — accurate or not — is legendary. The Simpsons have goofed on it and the Season 13 Family Guy episode "3 Acts Of God" featured a major plot point where Peter Griffin and his pals tried to get Belichick to crack a smile.

So, there's a pretty big reputation to flip around, but his appearance with McAfee and another at the Tom Brady roast went a long way.

Hopping on the Manningcast and cracking wise with Peyton and Eli will too.
