Biggar Rugby Club Ladies set a date at Murrayfield for Shield final
Biggar Ladies powered their way to the National Shield final with a 27-5 win over Broughton at Hartree Mill on Sunday.
They will play West of Scotland at Scottish Gas Murrayfield on Saturday, April 27, at 11am.
Broughton’s pack tested the Biggar 8 at set-pieces and threatened to breech the Biggar defence on several occasions.
That pressure paid off for the visitors, who got a score in the first half.
However, an early try from Gerry Kimm settled the nerves for Biggar, and they went on to record their 27-point tally, despite a strong gale.
A Biggar spokesperson said: “This was a great squad effort and they can now look forward to a Murrayfield final.
“Several of them have been to Murrayfield before, some on numerous occasions through age-group rugby, and some will make their second appearance of the season, having played in the under-18s’ win over Stirling County in December.”
