Big Spurs update: Alasdair Gold reveals what he's been told from Djed Spence's 'camp'

Tottenham Hotspur’s summer target Djed Spence would be open to a move to the north London outfit amid reports over his future. 

This is according to Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold, who has been speaking about the Lilywhites’ pursuit of the Middlesbrough ace.

Spence is now set to return to his parent club following his loan stint with Nottingham Forest, however, there is a queue of clubs lining up to secure the 21-year-old’s services.

Newcastle United and Brentford are joined by Roma and Borussia Dortmund in making up the interest building around the young right wing-back, who provided five assists in the Championship this season.

Fortunately for Antonio Conte, Gold believes Spence would be open to moving to north London despite interest from Forest.

He said: “I’ve been speaking to various people within his camp to try and find out exactly what’s going on there.

“There is a lot of interest in him, Spurs certainly are one of the frontrunners for him. The key for him, from what I understand, is that he doesn’t want to go somewhere and then be loaned out, that’s not really what he wants to do.

“But I get the impression that if he does go to one of those bigger clubs, he’ll want to go there and play. And from what I understand, I think Spurs are willing to make that happen.

“I do think with him, from what I understand, there is a big interest in going to Tottenham as well – and not just Tottenham, you know, you’re talking about Dortmund that give great opportunities to young English players.”
