"Big" – Journalist drops claim involving Everton and Frank Lampard at Goodison Park

Frank Lampard has a big test on his hands to turn Everton‘s fortunes around, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The 43-year-old has endured a tough start to life in the Goodison Park hotseat and watched his side crash out of the FA Cup in humiliating fashion at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Having shown great character to collect three priceless points against Newcastle three days earlier, despite having 10 men, Everton would have arrived at Selhurst Park with a spring in their step.

That confidence was evident early on as Lampard’s side completely dominated the early exchanges with Michael Keane and Richarlison both going close.

However, from the moment Marc Guehi headed Crystal Palace into a first half lead, Everton never looked like booking a date at Wembley.

Jean-Philippe Mateta doubled Palace’s advantage soon after before Wilfried Zaha and Will Hughes put the result beyond doubt as Lampard’s side slipped to yet another embarrassing defeat on the road.

Lampard has now lost each of his four away games as Everton boss, with his side scoring once and conceding 14 times during that period following previous results at Newcastle, Southampton, and Tottenham.

When the Merseysiders return from the international break, they face two potentially season-defining games at West Ham and Burnley, with the gap to the bottom three still only three points.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Everton are in big, big trouble and this is such a big test for Lampard to see if he can turn this around.”
