Big E thanks fans for support following 'disappointing' title run

Big E has acknowledged the fan support he’s received following his WWE Championship run ending and move back to the tag team ranks.

The 35-year-old’s won the WWE Championship in September last year, cashing-in his Money in the Bank contract on Bobby Lashley to win his first WWE Title. Big E successfully defended the belt at Crown Jewell, defeating Drew McIntyre, before eventually losing the strap to Brock Lesnar at Day 1 in January.

Since that defeat E has quietly moved to SmackDown and by the looks of the evidence on this past week’s SmackDown, back to the tag team division with The New Day.

According to a recent report from PWTorch, the feeling backstage was one of upset at the way Big E’s run has been treated. Since that report came out there has been a huge outpouring of support for the former champion and it hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Big E taking to social media to thank his fans for their love.

Man, y’all show me so much love & I’m deeply grateful. Thank you for positively shaping my life.

Many fans were disappointed with how Big E’s championship run was handled and equally as baffled as to why he wasn’t given a bigger part to play during last month’s Royal Rumble match. Even if his Rumble plan was derailed thanks to Kofi Kingston’s unplanned exit from the match.

With WrestleMania on the horizon, it’s unclear what plans WWE have for E going forward. Although with Goldberg now back in the equation, a much-speculated meeting between the two would be a crowd-pleasing way to go for proceedings in Dallas.
