"Big disappointment" - Journalist drops fresh van Bronckhorst claim at Rangers

Rangers will see it as a ‘big disappointment’ if they fail to keep the Scottish Premiership trophy at Ibrox and miss out on clinching back-to-back titles, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The Gers have entered the final weeks of the campaign and although they remain in the hunt to be crowned champions, they are not in pole position.

Rangers are currently six points adrift of table-topping arch-rivals Celtic as they look to enjoy domestic glory.

The Gers have not led the way since a 3-0 defeat at the hands of their cross-city neighbours in February, while a 2-1 loss at Ibrox allowed Celtic to put further daylight between the Glasgow giants.

The Gers were crowned the Scottish Premiership champions for the first time in a decade last season, with them finishing the domestic campaign unbeaten and racking up 102 points.

He was replaced in the dugout by former Light Blues ace Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who highlighted the fact he had inherited a squad which was in a ‘great position on all fronts’.

The journalist feels the Dutchman will not meet expectations if the Gers are unable to leapfrog Celtic in the standings.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT:
