Leeds United have struggled for form in their second season back in the Premier League, with Marcelo Bielsa’s team sitting 15th in the Premier League and just six points clear of the relegation zone.

With injury to last season’s top scorer Patrick Bamford proving a major issue, Bielsa needs to look for alternatives in attack to ensure that the Whites remain in the top flight.

Although Crysencio Summerville may not yet warrant a regular starting spot, the Argentine should look no further than the 20-year-old, who has featured in the first team on occasion whilst also shining for the under-23s.

The Dutch winger joined Leeds from Dutch giants Feyenoord in September 2020, initially joining the under-23 setup in the hope that he would knock on the door of a first-team breakthrough.

Prior to his move to Elland Road, the youngster spent the 2019/20 season on loan at Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag, where Alan Pardew was the manager with current England coach Chris Powell part of his staff in the Netherlands.

Powell had plenty of praise for the Dutch starlet, saying: “One v one is his strength, against players. He’s quite a free spirit out on the wing, in a good way. He’ll excite you, he’s a bag of tricks, there’s some talent there, it’s just how it’s harnessed and what the coaches demand from him.

“He’s played for the Under-18s and Under-19s for Holland so he’s well thought of in Dutch football.”

With six goals and six assists in 12 league appearances for the under-23s, plus two EFL Trophy appearances against Barrow and Blackpool, Summerville had an excellent first season in Yorkshire, but he only made the bench once for the first team.
