'Better than Declan Rice' - Spurs pundit backs 'big' Paratici signing after news from a source
Paul Robinson has backed Tottenham Hotspur to sign Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
With just one game to go, Leeds are in serious dangerous of being relegated from the Premier League.
As a result, numerous rumours have arisen linking Jesse Marsch’s star players with exits away from Elland Road.
Football Insider have recently reported a recruitment source’s information, claiming that Newcastle and Aston Villa have made the 26-year-old Phillips a top target for this summer’s transfer window and his future is ‘up in the air’.
Phillips, Patrick Bamford and Raphinha are all believed to be on the chopping block if the Whites go down.
Former Spurs keeper Robinson has reacted to news from FI’s sources and claimed that Phillips would fit well into the Lilywhites’ first XI, backing Fabio Paratici and Antonio Conte to make a move if the England star is on the market, saying a ‘big bid’ would get it done.
Speaking with Football Insider, he claimed: “If Leeds go down Kalvin Phillips will not be there.
“Even if Leeds stay up, there will be no shortage of takers for Kalvin Phillips. He’d fit in at Spurs.
“He was England’s best player last year. His quality is unprecedented. I think he is better than Declan Rice. He offers more going forward than Rice. His energy, his engine and his creativity are there for all to see.
“Leeds will struggle to hold onto him this summer if a big bid comes in.
“Phillips will be going to the England camp and see his teammates playing in the Champions League and competing for top honours. It is only a matter of time before he wants that as well. He is good enough to do it as well.”
As per FB Ref, Phillips ranks in the 99th percentile for pressures, the 98th percentile for tackles and the 95th
