Best and worst football grounds ranked as Aston Villa fans make their choice

With the 2021/22 season coming to a close, Aston Villa fans have been voting for what they believe is the country’s best and worst football stadium.

Supporters were given the option to pick from all 92 football league clubs as well as a few extras, such as Wembley Stadium. Villa Park proved to be a somewhat popular option amongst fellow football fans receiving almost three per cent of the vote nationally, but which grounds did Villa fans select?

1. Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (Tottenham Hotspur) 20.9%

The most recent addition to the 92’s stadia has proven popular amongst football fans across the country, with Villa being no exception. Villa were beaten on their most recent trip there in October under former boss Dean Smith, but did pick up an impressive victory by the same score line the previous season.

2. Anfield (Liverpool) 13.1%

Famed for its atmosphere and recent upgrades, it’s no surprise to see the home of Liverpool selected as one Villa fans’ top stadiums. However, you’d have to go back to September 2014 to find the Villains’ last victory there, when Gabriel Agbonlahor’s goal helped then manager Paul Lambert to a 1-0 win.

3. Wembley Stadium 10.8%

In recent years, Wembley Way has seen plenty of claret and blue with the club having made four trips since 2015. Their most recent fixture saw 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the League Cup final in 2020 but it’s the 2-1 win over Derby County in the 2019 Championship play-off that will be remembered the most fondly.

1. St Andrews (Birmingham City) 34.7%

Unsurprisingly, the home of Villa’s rivals tops the list with almost 35 per cent of the vote. Since Villa’s return to the Premier League, the two haven’t met at St Andrews since March 2019, when Jack Grealish
