Bernardo Silva makes admission after Man City beat Real Madrid to reach Champions League final

Bernardo Silva has admitted he was disappointed with his performance in the first leg against Real Madrid and it inspired him to make amends in the second.

Manchester City booked their place in the Champions League final on Wednesday with a stunning 4-0 triumph over Real Madrid. The tie was finely poised after the opening match at the Bernabeu which the Blues were lucky to escape from with a 1-1 draw.

Yet Pep Guardiola's side blew the reigning champions away back on home soil and completely dominated from the first minute to win 4-0. Bernardo scored the two opening goals to all but win the tie with a powerful shot and a deft header.

Second-half strikes from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez capped off a fantastic display and the Blues will now meet Inter in Istanbul on June 10 after the Italian giants defeated their city rivals AC Milan on Tuesday. Bernardo has opened up on his personal disappointment after the opening leg and his joy now the tie has concluded.

"My performance in the first game in Madrid wasn't the one that I wanted and I wanted to try and compensate that because I didn't feel very good at all after the first game," he told BT Sport. "Today I had to do better for my teammates, for the fans and that's what I tried to do. I'm very happy to have helped them today.

"It's a beautiful night for us. We knew it was going to be tough but to beat this Madrid team 4-0 at home, it was wonderful. Wonderful feeling to be in the final again and hopefully this time we can try and win it.
