Bernardo Silva insists Man City 'don't get credit' they deserve in message to critics

Bernardo Silva may be heavily linked with a move away from Manchester City this summer, but the midfielder is still saying all the right things to make him a fan favourite at the Etihad Stadium.

The Portuguese midfielder has played an integral role in City winning four of the last five Premier Leagues, but a string of reports this week claim that he is close to joining Barcelona. However, the Manchester Evening News understands that no deal has been agreed between the clubs, and that City do not intend to sell the 27-year-old.

This week Bernardo broke his silence on his future, failing to rule out a move and admitting that he does not know if he will still be at the club come the end of the summer transfer window. Speaking to ESPN, he did however broach a subject that will only endear him to City fans; that City do not get the credit they deserve for their on-field achievements.

"From Man City fans, definitely. I feel a lot of support, and they show a lot of appreciation for what I do," Bernardo said when asked if he is now getting the credit his and his teammates' performances deserve.

"From outside, it's difficult. I'm not complaining here, but I feel like other clubs get a lot more credit than City for doing less. For example, when I was at Benfica — a huge club in Portugal with more fans, more everything — you do something nice, and they make it look like it's great. Here at City, you do something great and they make it look like it's just good.
