Ben Garner speaks out on what Swindon Town need to do amid recent issue

Swindon Town boss Ben Garner has claimed that the hardest thing to do in football is score amid his side’s recent struggles in front of goal.

The Robins have found the net just once in their last three matches despite a load of chances, but Garner isn’t sounding too worried about their struggles.

“The hardest thing to do in football is score.” Garner said, via Swindon Advertiser.

“We’ve generally scored goals and been a threat throughout the season.”

“The last three games we could have scored a hatful of goals, but we haven’t. Sometimes you go through those periods.”

“The key thing is to keep working and believing in what you’re doing, and also for the players to show their strength of character and mentality by keep getting into those positions. If you do that, you’ll score goals.”

It is a big weekend ahead for Ben Garner’s side as they look to close the gap on the League Two play-off positions.

Swindon face Harrogate Town away on Friday before hosting Leyton Orient at the County Ground on Monday afternoon.

The Robins currently sit 10th in the league standings, five points behind sixth-placed Bristol Rovers, with a game in hand.

Continuing on their goalscoring issues, Garner explained that his side will always receive his backing as long as they are being positive and trying to express themselves.

“If you let it affect you and you think: ‘I’m not going to make that run’ or ‘I’m not going to take that shot’ then you’re not going to score.” Garner continued.

“They will always have my backing in terms of what they try in the attacking third, being positive and expressing themselves by taking people on and getting shots off.”

“As long as we keep doing that we’ll be fine.”

Harrogate Town vs Swindon Town is set for a 3pm
