Ben Foster makes Cristiano Ronaldo claim over Manchester United dressing room

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has said that he "guarantees" Cristiano Ronaldo is not the problem in the club's dressing room.

Ronaldo's future at United has been the topic on everyone's lips this summer after reports emerged that the player wanted a move away from the club to play Champions League football. Despite scoring 18 goals for the Reds last season, the 37-year-old could not help his side avoid their lowest points tally in Premier League history as they finished sixth.

United endured a torrid start to life under Erik ten Hag as they were beaten by both Brighton and Brentford 2-1 and 4-0 respectively but fans hope the tide will now turn after a brilliant 2-1 win over Liverpool, where Ronaldo came off the bench late in the second-half. The previous defeats caused an inquest at the club with talks of dressing room rows and arguments among the players coming to light.

Ronaldo cast a frustrated figure on the pitch for United during their two opening matches and it has led to speculation over whether the five-time Ballon d'Or winner is creating a bad attitude in the dressing room. However, Foster has come to his former teammate's defence as he categorically dismissed the notion.

Speaking to TalkSport, Foster was asked whether Ronaldo ever caused issues off the pitch during his time at United, to which he said: “No, never. Honestly, he was proper sound. He was never disruptive, never ever. I would never have a bad word to say about him.
