Beijing 2022 men's curling: Team GB beat USA to advance to gold medal final
Great Britain men's curling team are through to the Olympic gold medal match after beating defending Olympic champions United States 8-4 on Thursday (17 February).
The Britons, skipped by Bruce Mouat, got off to shaky start after Team USA stole two points in the second end to go 2-0 up.
Keeping calm, Team GB responded with a three-point end in the third to the take the lead.
At the half-way point it was Britain 5-4 in front, and they stayed there after the US made the call to blank the following three ends.
Deep into the ninth end US skip John Shuster opted to give up his final shot and allow Britain a steal of one in order to retain the hammer going into the tenth and final end.
It was a gamble that ultimately did not pay off for the American whose final shot of the game backfired enabling Britain to steal another two to win the game 8-4.
More to follow.
