“Been on their radar for a year” – Journalist delivers update on West Ham’s pursuit of Hull City star and other Championship players

Premier League outfit West Ham United are monitoring five or six Championship players ahead of the summer transfer window and Hull City’s Keane Lewis-Potter is one of them, according to transfer insider Dean Jones who spoke to Football League World.

The Hammers haven’t been afraid to scan the EFL for talent this term, being linked with several Championship stars in recent months including Lewis-Potter, who has recorded 11 goals and four assists in 44 league appearances for the Tigers during the 2021/22 campaign.

It’s his contributions that have gone a long way in keeping Shota Arveladze’s side afloat in the second tier following their promotion from League One last season, but David Moyes’ men are not alone in their pursuit of the versatile attacker.

Tottenham Hotspur are also thought to be keeping a close eye on him ahead of a potential summer move, although it’s currently unclear whether he will leave during the next transfer window with Arveladze keen to retain him.

In terms of Moyes’ side, they haven’t been afraid to scan the EFL for talent this season with Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson, West Bromwich Albion shot-stopper Sam Johnstone and AFC Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly also being linked with a transfer to the London Stadium.

This focus on the EFL hasn’t ceased according to journalist Jones, who has now revealed that the Hammers have been keeping tabs on Hull’s Lewis-Potter for around a year now and will consider launching a bid for his services at the end of the campaign.

He said: “The other way to look at it is they (West Ham) want to try and get on board some of the best talent in the country right now and he’s certainly one of those players.
