"Becoming a real worry now" - Sky Sports reporter drops big claim on Crystal Palace player

Nathan Ferguson’s injury situation at Crystal Palace is becoming a “real worry” for Patrick Vieira, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.

The 21-year-old made the switch to Selhurst Park from West Brom in the summer of 2020, but injuries have restricted him to just one first-team appearance.

Having signed for Palace following a successful promotion-winning campaign with the Baggies, much was expected of the left-back.

But he arrived in south London with a knee problem and then sustained another thigh injury, which has overshadowed his time at the club.

Ferguson resumed training with the club’s U23s towards the end of last season, but he suffered a setback in his recovery and didn’t return until just before Christmas, where he made his only Palace appearance as a late substitute in the Boxing Day defeat at Tottenham.

He was involved in four matchday squads under Vieira, but disaster struck once again when he injured his hamstring in a behind closed doors game at the beginning of February.

Vieira revealed that the left-back was expected to be sidelined for around six weeks, although he hasn’t featured since and doesn’t appear likely to play again before the campaign finishes.

And Bridge reckons that his constant injuries are a massive concern for Vieira moving forward.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “I do think Palace are going to have a look at their full-back situation, they’ve got Nathan Ferguson, who’s out injured again, and that’s becoming a real worry now.

“Palace aren’t saying they’re worried, but I think you have got to be now because he keeps getting injured left, right and centre.”
