Beaujolais Day 2022: Live updates as hundreds pack out Swansea bars and restaurants to celebrate

It's one of the biggest annual events in Swansea's calendar and sees hundreds of people dress to the nines to eat, drink, dance and socialise with their friends and family - it's Beaujolais Day and it's back today!

Swansea is one of just a handful of places in the UK that really goes to town to celebrate the day - but it certainly makes up for the fact other towns and cities are not marking the occasion in the same way! Several bars are welcoming popular local musicians to play live music throughout the day, whilst many restaurants and venues in the city centre and beyond will host glamorous sit-down dinners with plenty of wine flowing.

Historically, Beaujolais Day marked the start of a new wine season: 'Beaujolais Nouveau' is the new wine from the first harvest of grapes in the Beaujolais region of France, but these days many Swansea partygoers treat Beaujolais Day as a day to mark the beginning of the festive season.
