BBC Strictly paused after show thrown into confusion over Shirley's score for Tyler and Dianne

Radio DJ Tyler West was excited to be paired with professional dancer Dianne Buswell for the 2022 series of Strictly Come Dancing. On Saturday night (September 24) the pair made their dancefloor debut on the first live show.

After discovering that flame-haired Dianne is his partner on the BBC dance contest, Tyler announced their team nickname and said they were getting along famously. He wrote on his Instagram: "And just like that team Tydi was born! so extremely happy and my abs hurt not from dancing but from laughing so much!"

The Kiss FM star added: "I hope you enjoy what we bring to the dance floor make sure you tune in tomorrow night 6.45 to see our very first dance together." As Strictly Come Dancing stormed its way back to our screens with its new batch of contestants, Tyler and Dianne danced a dreamy American Smooth to Falling by Harry Styles.

But after the judges gave their verdicts and returned their scores on the famous paddles, there was confusion as head judge Shirley got into a muddle. The scoreboard said '6' but she lifted the seven paddle.

"I'm putting up a seven," she declared. But host Claudia Winkleman had to check. Before the show went any further it cut to Claudia saying to Shirley: "We just need to clarify. Okay baby do you want the seven?"

And a chuckling Shirley confirmed: "I will take the seven. I got muddled up with my paddles." "Perfect, we'll take the seven," said Claudia.
