BBC Strictly Come Dancing viewers ask ‘what is this’ after noticing glaring omission during results show

Eagle-eyed viewers of Strictly Come Dancing said Halloween was 'ruined' after noticing one star of the competition was missing from the group dance number in this evening’s results show.

The Halloween results show opened with a Wednesday Addam’s themed number from the professional dancers but viewers took to social media to ask where Giovanni Pernice was in the routine.

Whilst Giovanni’s partner Amanda Abbington withdrew from the competition earlier this week, the professionals typically will continue to dance together for their group numbers throughout the BBC show so many had expected him to be part of the spooky dance.

As the professionals performed to Lady Gaga’s Bloody Mary with Jowita Przystal taking on the lead role of Wednesday, one viewer asked: “The **** is this?! Where’s Giovanni’s rightful solo?? #strictly.” They then added: “Halloween RUINED.” Another said: “No Gio music guest performance dance on halloween.”

However, one viewer responded to the questions over the ‘missing’ professional by sharing that he had injured himself when the group dance was recorded. “He was injured when they filmed the group dances so he’s not in them,” the viewer said.

Giovanni injured his ankle earlier this year and it also saw him prevented from performing alongside Anton du Beke in their planned joint stage show 'Him and Me'. Ahead of this year's series, he said he had been forced to rest his ankle for some time but was back in rehearsals.
