BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden shares 'hope' in gushing tribute to husband after tears for co-star's news

Amy Dowden has shared her 'hope' for the year ahead in a gushing tribute to her husband on his birthday. The Strictly Come Dancing star took to social media to wish her other half Ben Jones a happy birthday as they also reach a year of facing Amy's cancer diagnosis together.

Welsh dancer Amy was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in May last year after she found a lump in her breast in April, the day before going to the Maldives on honeymoon with Ben, a fellow professional dancer.

Amy announced the news after undergoing a mastectomy and later bravely documented going through chemotherapy treatment. But the course of treatment wasn't without its setbacks as the dancer recently shared how she was told she had come close to organ failure after she developed an infection following her first round of chemo.

While she was told the positive news that there was no evidence of disease, Amy will not receive the “all clear” for five years due to her type of cancer but has recently shared her hopes to return to the Strictly ballroom when the BBC One dance contest returns later this year.

In the meantime, Amy turned the focus onto Ben as she marked his birthday publically by sharing a string of photos of him and of them together, including on their stunning wedding day.

"To my gorgeous husband, Happy Birthday. Love you always. Thank you for everything you always do for me," Amy typed of a string of posts on her Instagram Story. Alongside a photo of them sharing their vows on their wedding day, she continued: "Putting me first
