BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans defend Jamie Borthwick as he's hit with same comparison

Fans have rushed to defend Jamie Borthwick after he had another successful night in the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom. The actor has been going from strength to strength in the competition alongside dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas.

And on Saturday night (October 26), as Halloween arrived early, Jamie and Michelle impressed with their playful American smooth to The Addams Family theme while dressed as brother and sister duo Wednesday and Pugsley Addams.

Head judge Shirley Ballas hailed it as "pure genius" and complimented how they moved across the floor while Craig Revel Horwood thought it was "incredible" before awarding them 38 points out of a possible 40.

It left EastEnders star Jamie and Michelle joint top of the leaderboard with Miranda star Sarah Hadland and reigning Strictly champion Vito Coppola secured a score of 38 by impressing the judges with their heated Argentine tango to Ready Or Not by Fugees which was filled with challenging lifts and graceful footwork.

Judges Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke both declared it the "dance of the night", while Craig noted that while actress Sarah had an issue with her first lift, e still thought it was "the most wonderful Argentine tango".

But as there were cries of Jamie being "overmarked" by the judges, many Strictly fans spoke out in his defence. @urbex_0tter said: "He really has reached a new level these past two weeks. And showing he can do BOTH Latin and Ballroom. Wow!" @lgf.cosmo wrote: "It was NOT OVERMARKED AT ALL!!!"

@inmyreperas commented: "I actually really enjoyed this dance. Jamie definitely deserved his score tonight regardless of what anyone else has to say."
