BBC Sports Personality of the Year LIVE - Keely Hodgkinson and Luke Littler battle for SPOTY honours
Hello and welcome to live updates around the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
In what as become a stalwart in the build-up to Christmas for sports fans over 70 years, the latest edition of the awards take place on Tuesday, 17 December. It will be shown on BBC One and BBC iplayer between 7pm and 9pm.
The nominees for the main prize presented at the end of the night have already been named with Keely Hodgkinson and Luke Littler among those nominated. Hodgkinson came away with a gold medal from the Paris Olympics in 2024, while Littler made headlines this time last year when he made the World darts final at the age of just 16.
The other nominees are; Jude Bellingham (football), Joe Root (cricket), Dame Sarah Storey (Para cycling) and Alex Yee (triathlon).
There will also be other awards handed out on the night including the Lifetime achievement award which is being given to Sir Mark Cavendish, The World Sports Star award, the Young Sports Personality of the Year and the Unsung Hero award.
