BBC presenter left stunned after revealing secret on live TV

Keeping a surprise birthday party under wraps can be tricky. Sending out invites and buying food and drink without arousing suspicion is a delicate art.

Announcing the surprise birthday live on TV the day before is not the ideal thing to do.

But that is exactly what a weather forecaster did when she was taken off guard by a routine question at the end of tonight's BBC North West Tonight.

When presenter Annabel Tiffin asked weather forecaster Kawser Quamer if she had any exciting plans for the weekend, she accidentally spilled the beans.

She replied: "My niece's surprise birthday."

Annabel said: "Oh that's lovely, but not a surprise if she's watching this!" Kawser, realising her gaffe, replied: "Goodness me, I've spoilt the surprise!"

Here's hoping her niece was watching The Simpsons on Channel 4 instead.
