BBC Gavin and Stacey's Uncle Bryn star tricks fans with message amid fishing trip footage release

Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon has left his celebrity followers and fans in stitched as he tried to trick them with a hilarious new year update before footage never featured in the hit show was released.

The actor was among the show's beloved cast reprising their roles for the last ever episode of the much-loved sitcom. Rob was seen in Gavin and Stacey: The Finale for one last time as Uncle Bryn as the Essex and Barry clans prepared for Neil 'Smithy' Smith's wedding.

The episode kicked off as the families of Stacey and her husband Gavin prepared for a wedding – presumed to be between Smithy and Vanessa 'Nessa' Jenkins after she got down on one knee during the last Christmas special in 2019.

However, fans were initially disappointed to discover the wedding was between Smithy and Sonia – his girlfriend from the 2019 Christmas Day episode. But. the 'perfect' last episode saw Nessa and Smithy finally get their happy ending while it was also revealed that Stacey’s mother, Gwen West, was in a secret relationship with Nessa's ex Dave Coaches.

But a week after the last episdoe aired, one-off documentary Gavin and Stacey: A Fond Farewell delighted fans with a surprise reveal of never-before-seen footage featuring Uncle Bryn and Jason West on their infamous fishing trip, a long-standing joke throughout the sitcom.

The shaky, handheld camcorder-style footage, supposedly from years ago, showed Rob and Rob Wilfort, who plays Jason, dressed in period-appropriate outfits and hairstyles, embarking on their notorious fishing trip. In the clip, Bryn can be heard exclaiming: "Who do we have here?"

The scene then switches to Jason with a fish in hand. You can also hear Bryn enthusiastically proclaim: "No one will go hungry in this camp
