BBC Breakfast's Jon Kay says 'not talking about you' as he 'snubs' guest on air
On Wednesday's episode of BBC Breakfast, viewers saw an adorable labradoodle puppy named Bowie on the sofa alongside Jon Kay and Sally Nugent.
The pooch has been lending a paw to a charity aiming to dismantle the stigma associated with seeking help amid the cost of living crisis, especially over Christmas.
Bowie appeared on the show with his owner Ollie Foster and Keely Dalfin, the charity's Chief Executive. Jon couldn't resist commenting on the adorable guest: "What a cutie!"
His remark prompted laughter, leading him to clarify: "Not talking about you Ollie! He [the dog] is absolutely gorgeous. He's been so good since he came in. He's smiling." Jon's co-host Sally Nugent chimed in as Bowie gazed into the camera, saying: "He is actually smiling Jon, look."
Delving deeper into the charity's initiatives, the presenters were curious about the impact Bowie has when assisting Ollie. The owner explained: "He's an absolute dream, when I started working for the Brick [charity] he was just accompanying me in the van, he was just my work dog. But, the effects you see he has on the people when you're delivering to them. It distracts them in a way from the purpose of why I'm there."
Ollie also mentioned that during deliveries, many people are eager to step outside just to meet Bowie. The Brick, based in Wigan, redistributes surplus items donated by businesses to local families in need, reports the Express.
Jon noted the positive impact of their actions, saying: "It takes away the stigma because, for some people you turning up and offering help, especially at Christmas time, they might be a bit embarrassed."
