BBC Breakfast face major change to show as Carol Kirkwood 'goes missing'
This morning's edition of BBC Breakfast saw a significant twist as fan-favourite Carol Kirkwood was nowhere to be found in her familiar spot, parting from the set in what's being described as a "dramatic" revamp.
On Tuesday's (December 10) instalment of the beloved breakfast programme, Jon Kay, aged 55, and Sally Nugent, who is 53, graced our televisions once more to deliver the day's top stories.
Yet, viewers were treated to a surprising modification - rather than taking her usual place at Salford's studio, weather presenter Carol Kirkwood swapped settings, broadcasting live from the historical Roman Baths in Bath.
Sally Nugent drew attention to the unique change, saying on air: "Now it's time for the weather with Carol and she has gone somewhere very special this morning. Carol explains where you are this morning. It looks very dramatic."
The camera panned to an enthused Kirkwood amidst the new backdrop. Addressing both Jon and Sally along with the audience at home, she said with delight: "Aww Sal it is fabulous. Good Morning everybody I am in the Roman Baths right next to the Great Bath.", reports the Express.
As she gestured towards the stunning scenery behind her, Carol elaborated: "Look at it in its splendour and can you imagine what this would have looked like in its heyday in Roman times? It would have been vibrant all around and there would have been people gossiping, having meetings and then going into the baths which were considered healing waters."
She then revealed: "The reason for my presence is that the area is currently undergoing cleaning, a process that started yesterday and is set to be completed today. As the water level drops from its normal height, you'll soon see individuals donning wellies and
