Bayern sign keeper Peretz on five-year deal from Maccabi Tel Aviv

BERLIN :Bayern Munich have signed Israeli goalkeeper Daniel Peretz from Maccabi Tel Aviv on a five-year deal, the German champions said on Friday as they seek cover for the injured Manuel Neuer.

The clubs did not disclose the transfer fee but German media reported that Bayern would pay Maccabi five million euros ($5.40 million) for the 23-year-old.

"It's a dream for every child to one day get to play for a club as big as Bayern," Peretz, a product of Maccabi's Youth Academy which he joined aged six, told the club's website.

"When I heard about Bayern's interest, I only had one wish: to move here. I'm hungry for everything that's to come."

Peretz had earlier landed in Munich to complete the formalities.

Bayern scouted the keeper weeks ago as they looked to bring him in for the first part of the season, with Germany international Neuer still weeks away from a comeback after suffering a broken leg in December.

Veteran Sven Ulreich kept goal in both matches, with Yann Sommer and Alexander Nuebel having left in the close season.

At home to Augsburg in the Bundesliga this Sunday, Tuchel will be without midfielder Jamal Musiala, who picked up a hamstring injury in training this week and will be out for an unspecified period.

Asked if that meant crowd favourite Thomas Mueller, a substitute against Werder, would start, Tuchel said: "It could be Mueller but it could also be Serge (Gnabry) or Ryan Gravenberch. You will have to wait and see.
